Have now had 2 people in the last month @ work come up and thank me for recommending them the airpods. Both have said revolutionary. I've been like they're handy/cool (per earlier) but those 2 guys (both in late 40's) were blown away..go figure…

Slightly off topic, but still made by Apple, what are people's experience with Beats headphones? We have (shared in our house) some Solo 2's and some Studio wireless, for the price I am not blown away by either of them.

beats is thrash. for that price, i'm not happy with it's audio quality. i had a pair of their in ear ones many years ago when they were under monster. also the built quality is absolutely shit. if you want something good to start with, shures is the place to go.. im not one to slag off a product that badly but it didn't wow me at all. maybe they've improved, i'm not sure. but it's definitely cool that they have the same wireless chips as the airpods

My wife really loves her big wireless over-ear beats. She's by no means an audiophile, though, and mostly uses them to listen to podcasts or watch videos. I have some older ones with a cord, and I have always been pleased with their performance, but ditto I'm not a major audiophile, and I only really use them on the plane when traveling.

I have a 7 Plus so I'm tempted by the X but still want to see one in person before taking the dive.
-
i scored one but no way in hell am i selling that..
-
nice. i'll be picking one up on launch day after work. quite excited to see how this new generation turns out..
-
OH BOY I LOVE THE X. ignore the mess
-
Worth the price? @louisbosco

i'm a little bias on apple. sold my soul to them years ago, anything is worth it.
on a slightly serious note, it's nice. but the excitement will soon fade away. the glass back with the screen looks amazing. and this is me coming from a 7plus. the new features from the 7 to X are well… you'd probably not find yourself using it that much, let's put it that way. i have not have an extensive use of the camera to comment just yet. but face ID is brilliant and i'd expect even more for years to come..
-
I'm very tempted, but not £79 a month (which is what my network is offering the phone at) tempted. I'll go with an 8plus I reckon.
-
the oled display is really good. gimmicks and new tech aside, i'm very happy with the OLED screen. so much more vibrant and appealing to look at.
the true tone display is something that i'm not able to tell the difference. i've never used the night mode as well so that doesn't affect me as much with the white balancing of the brightness. the subconscious part of my brain misses pressing the home button, but so far, usage has been pretty smooth..

Has anyone carried out the High Sierra software upgrade and lost there administrator privileges?
My user account is now standard and I cant add or update any software on my machine.
I took it to a guy I use and he thinks the only way is to save everything, wipe it and reinstall.
Just seeing if anyone knows a way round without doing it like that.
I've tried the 'root, no password' option to no avail.

You could try this:
Boot in single-user mode: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201573
Give yourself admin privileges via the terminal: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201573
