Watches - another OCD problem
-
After admiring and drooling over this for the last 3 years, one of these finally came up for grabs in a price range I could semi-afford (although I am currently moving some of my gear to help cover the costs).
I realize there are some very strong opinions about panerai on both sides of the fence, but this particular model has always been one that really appealed to me.

Absolutely stunning

@tigerpac I can't see the photo. What were you trying on?
@Dstauffer I'm not really a Panerai fan, though my love of the Mare Nostrum has been documented here, but I do like that one.
-
@Dstauffer your Panerai is one of the more sedate models. I think that the brand's aesthetics work better when dialled back a notch or two.
I saw a Panerai a few months back that had a sunburst dial, the 687, which I rather liked.

love panerai. regret selling the 005. will have to get it back one day along with a 233..

I finally made my decision and chose a watch that I believe is very much “me.” It’s not flashy, is substantial in weight, and kind of “punk rock” in a way.
Very happy with my decision, and it’s procurement for the celebration of my 30th birthday (next week) is all the more meaningful. A very special thanks to the friend who was able to facilitate the sale for me.

I’m not much of a watch guy but that is stunning Adam.

Thanks Gav, after trying on 100 stainless band watches, I realized a leather band was the way I wanted to go.
And SINN seems to be a pretty rare brand in the US, so the likelihood of running into someone on the streets of Alabama with it is probably about as rare as seeing some Iron Heart jeans walking the streets lol

Thanks @Clint_D - and thanks for your advice on the matter

I made the switch to leather bands (from stainless steel) about 3 years ago and I just absolutely love them. Nothing against stainless, but IMHO there is a certian aesthetic of leather that really appeals to me. Especially with contrast stitching.
If you are ever in the market for more of a high end band, DaLuca has some really great products.
Great piece though sir. Truly unique and very appropriate given your personal style.
-
many thanks @Dstauffer - I have been trying to keep it in te box until my birthday next week, but it will probably get worn on Wednesday when I "dress up" for work.
-
Looks good @Appfaff. It's not an obvious choice either.
I prefer leather or rubber straps to steel bracelets. I find the latter heavy, and relatively uncomfortable. There are a few that I'm OK with (such as the titanium one on the Ploprof), but I don't think that I'd get a watch with one.
-
Very nice watch. Simple and classic is always a good call.
Just don't start making puns about how this makes you a Sinner or some other such crap…
-
Thats a very nice watch @Appfaff.
