Been on a real Steely Dan tear lately. They're just so friggin great.
Even as great as they were, it was easy to pick a track for this thread, thanks in parts to the songwriting, the production, and especially Steve Gadd and Wayne Shorter among the universally brilliant performances. I love crazy compositions and excellent studio production, which is one reason I'm a big Zappa fan. They are so different but have a few things in common that I really value.

Been really burning up this record lately — a little bit of ELO/The Move, Nilsson, Emitt Rhodes vibes in there. Apparently this guy's in Jeff Tweedy's solo band vis a vis being a childhood friend of Spencer, which makes me feel like a fucking fossil… but damn if it's not a great album

Love that Rickard Javerling record! I need to pop it on, been a while. Love that label in general.

Been on a Chris Whitley kick lately. Gone too soon. Could have been a household name IMO, but made interesting choices–too restless to settle into the kind of success his talent warranted. But still made some great (and, to be fair, some less great) music.

tempted to try to fly over for this..

I listened to the first album after thoroughly enjoying the newest one. They got a good thing going on for sure. Sometimes they remind me of Chuck Prophet and I got a Nick Cave but less dark vibe at one point.
