Face Masks

I have runabout goods mask too. They also make a strap that snaps to the ear straps to take pressure off the back of the ears. I've found it very helpful for prolonged wear, though at work i wear the medical one as it isn't so restricting on the breathing.
-
@jordanscollected that's cool! I did see those straps but I wasn't really sure how they worked with the straps that come with the mask. Doesn't that behind-the-head strap end up over-stretching the built-in straps?

hahaha lucky enough to not be able to fly anywhere except our own state..
that said, WA is pretty extensive in terms of places to see. I'm pretty sure you'd love to be here just fishing by the ocean [url=https://www.ironheart.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=1]@Giles Also, I'm moving back to Singapore in Feb next year, so it'll be interesting to see how I'll adapt to a country that requires wearing one
just for being alivewhile going out and all.. -
@Paul9221 It's made in such a length that it doesn't over stretch the straps, and instead just pulls them away from the ears a bit. I'll say the back of head straps aren't perfect and I do fidget with the strap some to get it to sit right, but it takes most of the pain away from the ears from prolonged wear. The strap does have a tendency to slide down the curvature of the skull (again, fidgeting), but overall I'm glad I bought it and wear it often. It also gets a lot of "where the heck did you get that head strap?"
That said, $25 for the strap puts me at $50 for a damn mask (I have the bravestar denim mask $25)
worth it, even with its quirks.

Since july we are obligated to wear face masks in stores here in Belgium. Since I own a store I have to wear it 8 hours a day, 6 days a week (when we are not closed because of lockdown like now…). So I had to find some that are comfortable. I tried a couple from Troop London, Fleurs de Bagne, etc. But by far the best are the ones from G-Star. Very comfortable to wear, soft anti-bacterial cloth. They use a triangle cord that doesn’t pull on your ears. I think a 5-pack costs €50 and they feel like can last a lot of washes.

@Giles Wow! Are they not even open for take-out?
How are the restaurant/pub owners and employees doing over there? I don't want to get into a political discussion over it but is the government providing any sort of relief for the people who can't work because all of those establishments are shut down? Any sort of rent relief or anything like that?
-
@jordanscollected yeah, it's definitely not cheap. And as people have been throwing out different mask brands on this thread, I'm realizing how much more you're paying for a Runabout mask compared to any others. On the plus side, they do donate a mask for every one that you order. Still…
@Plymouth58 I'm glad that you chimed in. Who better to talk about mask comfort and build quality than people that have to wear it 8 hours a day! I'll check out those G-Stars.

Some of them are doing take-outs. People in the hospitality business are basically doing shite, the whole sector will be very very different on the other side. There is some fiscal help in some areas, but it is not enough, but then enough would probably fuck things up in other areas. There is no "right" solution to this, I just know we will be paying for this for decades…....

Sounds very familiar…I received a stimulus check when I really shouldn't have -- I think you ended up getting most of that check, G Then lots of people doing what they can with what little they have. I just try to tip a little extra and order take-out a little more frequently. Californians have been eating out a lot.
I was driving home along the coast a few weeks back and there were packed restaurants with 30+ people lined up tight to get in. Of course, now we're going back into lock-down. Between Halloween and schools re-opening we're at record high numbers of new cases week-to-week (I think we had over 11k new cases in California today). The government is pretty concerned about The uptick following Thanksgiving. It's gonna be bad!

Hey! I've got one of those, too!
I reinforced the metal nose strip to get a better seal, which helped the fit. -
I was using Airinum masks right at the beginning and just re-ordered filters. A great mask but when you're all buttoned up they are a bit tougher to breathe through (does the job then!).
Otherwise I've been using the GA masks and got a few 5-packs from Hyperlite Mountain Gear.

Really been enjoying the U Mask for the past couple weeks–comfortable for 8 plus hrs a day, easy to speak and be heard, looks decent. Higher rating than N95/FFP3 and resuable filter for 200 hrs, with replacement filters coming in around 20 cents per hr--seems like a winner. And Bono uses it so fucking a legit, haha!
