RIP Filthy Mike
-
I am sorry that the title of this post is so click-baity, but we wanted/needed people to click on it and read this post.
It is with a VERY heavy heart, that we have to tell you that our beloved (and I mean that so seriously) friend and brother, @Filthy has passed.
His sister reached out to me last night with this message:
Hi. I am hoping to get a message to Giles. My name is Alissa Miller. My brother was Michael Ogurchak. I wanted to let you know that he died yesterday. Iron heart was one of Michael’s biggest passions. I can’t tell you how many times he would pull out this pair or that jacket to show the creases, seams, and markings. His viewing will be Sunday. He will be wearing a pair of his jeans and his favorite overalls will be on display. Thank you for being such a good friend to him all these years.
Mike's obituary is now online:

We can't even start to describe how sad and upset we are, as I am sure you will be.
Mike was a troubled soul but he filled our lives with joy, as I am sure he did for so many of you.
@Madame Buttonfly and I would like to know more people like Filthy…..

Mike was one of the first people I connected with on this forum and we often chatted via pm behind the scenes. He inspired me on so many different levels and I regret not being able to meet him in person. He has touched me often in his generosity to others and the way he never really complained no matter what life threw at him.
I will miss him dearly.

Hope he rests in peace. Sad news for sure, he will be missed on the forum. Was such a great presence on here.

Oh no. I’ve read so many of his posts. What a kind soul. Oh, Filthy you will be missed

This is heartbreaking. RIP Mike.

terrible news when anyone that's been such a cornerstone of a community passes.
Didnt know the guy really at all, but appreciated his enthusiasm and photos for all things IH.As a thought to memorialize or honor his contributions, would duplicating memorable posts of his or his final few fade pics of various pieces into a single Filthy thread make any sense?

Good thought and recommendation. This entire forum has been touched by @Filthy and you can find his love for IH and us all over the place. I can’t think of a better memorial of him than this place as a whole.

Absolutely gutted…

I’m new to the forum, but know the reverence with which Filthy was held. I can’t process the effect this news has had on me, so I can only send love to those that knew him better than I. RIP.
-
Never met him but read many, many of his posts on the Forum. I admired his passion and shared some of his tastes in music. He was a legend. Awful news.

This is heartbreaking. I can't count the number of conversations I had with him here on the forum. Such a thoughtful and passionate person. I hope he found his peace.
Your Denim may have been faded but our memory of you will not be.
RIP Mike

I only had a couple of interactions with Mike, but remember fondly a time where he articulated so beautifully how his love for IH and denim kept him going in dark times, a reason to get up and get dressed so to speak…
I really related to his way of thinking, truly a stalwart of this forum.
Rest easy, Filthy.
