IH-526-ODG - Whipcord Modified Type III - Olive Drab Green
-
I have been eying this jacket for a long time. With no impending restock, I looked around at the different retailers and found one in my size at RnH.
I'm seriously attracted to anything whipcord, and this jacket is no exception. Superb quality, and the corduroy collar pairs very well with it.
Went with my normal jacket size, which is XXXL. The proportions on this one are indeed a little off - arms slightly longer, chest smaller. But I can get it buttoned up no problem, at least over a t-shirt. -
Hey all. I want to get this in xxxl despite usually being an xxl/needing 23”+ pit to pit.
If I go xxxl in this, will the sleeves be too baggy?
Thanks!
-
@Dans i don’t think it would be too baggy. I wear a XXL in UHFs and I just got my first type 3 and got a XXXL. I was worried about the sleeves too but they’re perfect. Once the fabric starts creasing you lose some length on the sleeves. Hope this helps

Going to be a busy end of the month!

This may be a dumb question, but is this the same fabric the outer shell of the N1 (non-oiled) jackets are made from?
I have a N1, and it is the perfect winter/snow jacket (I use it while plowing snow on my 4 wheeler).

Can anyone advise on size for this, in IH shirts im nearly always a xxl. So about 47/ 48 chest, and 19.5( to 19.8) shoulders is my perfect size. This jacket seems to have a large shoulder to chest ratio.
-
@tody Thanks for the advice, it's not so much the sleeves I'm worried about, rather it's loose shoulders. I guess this fit isn't my body type.
Cheers. -
I definitely second the 'slim cut' on this one. It is very slim.
My other IH jacket (IHJ-124-BRN) and all shirts (IHSH-328-GRN, HSH-330-BLK, IHSH-288-IND) are size L, and they are all generously-sized for my frame. I even tracked down another Type 3 modified in a store (IHJ-121-IND) and size L was the right size. The chest (P2P) measurements for the green IH-526-ODG are narrower, but I thought it would be ok.
But when the IH-526-ODG arrived, it was fine everywhere, except across the chest. Noticeably tight, to the point that when I puffed up my somewhat puny chest, the front was pulling the buttons apart.
Other than that, it's such a lovely jacket. I just printed the return label... Sigh.
XL is not available from IHUK, but I tracked one down through Garmentory, shipped from Brooklyn Clothing in Canada. The dumb things we do for Iron Heart: a Japanese jacked, bought from Canada, shipped to Australia via the US

I just received size XL after retuning L (my usual IH size) and it is the perfect fit. I'm 185cm, 73kg. Sleeve length or shoulder width are not an issue.
Advice for future buyers:
- This jacket is on the slim side, even compared with other IH Type 3 jackets, especially in the chest (P2P) area.
- Have a close look at the measurement chart.
- Consider going 1 size up from your usual IH sizing (which is likely already 1 size up from typical western sizing).

any plans for a restock of this one any time soonish?
-
@Marz, I'm afraid we have no plans soon. However, we will be doing them again in the future as they are a continuous product, we just don't have a timeframe at the moment. If you haven't, I would highly recommend signing up for the restock notification on the website product page by clicking the size you would like and entering your email in the box below the sizing list, as well as keeping an eye on this forum page for any updates, if there is anything else don't hesitate to get in touch.
