I don’t like to write off any dog - they’re all individuals - but I can’t quite see how those breeds that were historically bred for fighting can’t have picked up some relevant behavioural traits. Artificial selection is a powerful evolutionary force…

Was it a bite and release or the typical bite with the aggressive shaking/tearing motion?

I’m on the mend. No long term damage done. It was last latched on for a few seconds before letting go. I realized later that I had my arms around Ava so it was likely going for her and got me instead. Kids were not outside and Ava is unharmed. Travel plans most definitely not affected. An amputation would not have kept me from Hamburg.

To add insult to injury I had to perform first aid to myself after recovering from slight shock symptoms and the adrenaline rush because Katie passed out right after seeing the bite. Ava was following me around and laying at my feet whenever I sat down. Fortunately the girls slept through it all.
