@Nik - not sure that this is a natural fit for me but it sounds interesting. I will give it a go. Will similarly listen on long walks (as opposed to runs as my Achilles tendons are goosed).

It'd be a good compliment to 'The Rest is...' - I like to take in political commentary from all over the spectrum but am definitely on the left myself. I've got right wing friends who like to listen to the sort of Marxist critique people like ACFM offer to firm up their arguments against it. Which seems cool to me. My grandfather was a member of the communist party before becoming an entrepreneur, and my uncle is a Trumper so him and I have lively discussions for sure. Mostly lots of respect in all directions.

Will do @goosehd thanks

No dramas. No intent to raise specific issues or create a dispute o we ideology. Will check out the pod - to keep an open mind.

@jordanscollected my favorite true crime is 'the last podcast on the left" I can't get enough of the funny trio. I've also been to one of their liveshows. The content is meh, but I must admit being startstuck for a second when they came on stage. Weird seeing the guys in the flesh after listening to their voices for hours on end.
Another great one is 'seven deadly sins' by Stephen Frye. His 'great leap years' is also a very good listen.
If you like horror 'Old gods of Appalachia' has a great vibe.

You'll never see me in any political conversation, I avoid those discussions as much as possible. Love the true crime podcasts. Bear Brooke's new season isn't as compelling as the first, but I'll continue on as it's well constructed. I have an ear bud in all day with a podcast going whenever I don't need to concentrate hard on something. Podcasts are finally getting into the subscription model, but i haven't bit yet. There's too many bad ones to pay for a service. "The Binge, "Wondery +" etc. won't get my money. They all eventually release for free.

Started listening to ‘Love is the Message’ and it is good. Two London academics tell a sprawling alternative history of dance music with a 70’s focus. Starts with David Mancuso in The Loft in New York but grows from there. Lots about counterculture, relationship of dance and music to politics, great tunes and stories.

@SKT if you ever get the craving to nerd out on some classic country lore Cocaine and Rhinestones is a good listen

There are 1 or 2 episodes on the Louvin Brothers somewhere in there -
In light of recent events, I decided to revisit this fantastic series on the history of Palestinian/Israeli conflicts.
Across six episodes, it runs for roughly 20 hours, so it's quite a commitment, but for anyone wanting a comprehensive yet accessible history of the geopolitical and historic events that have led us to where we are today, I couldn't recommend this series more.
I won't express my own opinions on matter as per the no political discourse rule of this forum, but to my understanding, this series remains as unbiased as possible and tries its best to empathise with (and criticise) both sides in equal measures.

I'd also recommend those that are interested in Middle East politics check out CONFLICTED. It is hosted by an orthodox Christian (Thomas Small) in discussion with a Salafi Muslim, Aimen Dean (a former Al Qaeda operative turned spy for MI6/SIS until the September 11 attack on NYC). It has more of a focus on understanding Islamist* Jihadist** terrorism - their mindsets, motivations, and the wider regional and global contexts and regional history in which they operate.
It's been going on for 4 years now, so there is a deep well of fascinating episodes to browse. The latest season (the fourth) has been particularly interesting, as it zooms in on the lives and philosophies of the Muslim writers and thinkers who have most inspired Islamist fundamentalism, before moving on to discuss their modern incarnation in the Muslim Brotherhood and its offshoots.
If you're just interested in Israel/Palestine, then there are episodes on that in Season 3, plus a 'response episode' to the recent revival of the conflict.

** here used to denote those that believe that Islamism as a political ideology should be spread through violent means and undertake to join in that mission. Not all Islamists are Jihadists.

Leaving the links up for now, but they may be deleted. Also posting the reminder of our forum policy:
@neph93 said in New guidelines regarding political posting - All members should read…:
The Member Guidelines thread (https://www.ironheart.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=10395.new#new) has been updated with the following:
Iron Heart is an international brand, and this forum also has a global reach. We are proud of that. For the forum to be a pleasant, inclusive place, where people from all over the world can come to discuss the brand, denim and other interests, we have always had guidelines that ask our users to refrain from posting comments likely to cause unnecessary conflict or create a negative environment. This includes posting about themes like politics, religion and other controversial issues. Our opinion is that there are other places on the internet for this kind of discussion. In addition, the hostility and ugliness often found in comment sections around the internet is not something we need or want here.
Unfortunately, there has recently been an increase in this kind of posting. This has begun to include posting of clothing or other artefacts showing support for different political groups or ideologies. We do not want to act as censor for our member’s posts, but we will not be able to tolerate people promoting their political ideologies in this way any longer, for the reasons described above.
For the record, the forum and the brand believe in equality for all people, regardless of gender, race, sexuality or nationality. As such, we take an especially dim view of overtly nationalistic, fascist, or intolerant, groups, ideologies or viewpoints being promoted here. As a general rule though we would like all users to refrain from posting any direct or implied political content.
Thanks for reading.

Discovering IronCast set me down a satisfying path of semi-related podcast discovery but I'm at an unfortunate point where I have run out of material and would love suggestions for more
Over the last couple years I've enjoyed Heddels Blowout (and now Neverrong), Garmology, Articles of Interest, Denimhunters and Customer Service
Are there any others I should be checking out in a similar vein?

@GraemeE maybe Dean Delray’s Grail podcast? AFAIK he used to feature maker type folks on Let There Be Talk (including Giles and Jerome Mage), then it branched off into its own whole separate podcast.
