IHWE-MRLOU-BLK - Wesco® - 10" Horsehide Pull-On "Mister Lou" Engineer Boot - Black
-
@Dmart haven’t heard back yet. I find the instep on the 10D Morrisons is already almost too tight, combined with the almost too narrow feeling on the ball of my foot. The Wesco sizing video says the last on the Mr. Lou’s is both narrower and a lower instep, that makes me think I’d almost need to be 10.5E to make up for the tighter instep and width? Argh!
-
@nrtphotos That would make sense to me. The instep of the Lou is low and there is not too much give over time but this may depend as well on the leather. I have a custom form so they fit me quite well. I am eying a Morrison as my next one, slowly transitioning to more cowboy style boots.
You could maybe measure your feet and share the measurements with Wesco, they are very supportive and typically responsive but also very busy.
In any way, the Lou’s are great boots, I have three of them now -
Boys, please tag me here when the heads up is posted about a restock! Fingers crossed.
-
@nrtphotos really won't be long now...
-
@Ross I was just told lol. The tag might help me see it, always paranoid my email alert will be too late.
-
@nrtphotos don't blame you, I'll be sure to tag you when the date goes live so you can stick it in your diary
-
@Ross a gentleman and a scholar, thank you!

Wish me luck! Barely saw this! Yesterday someone drove into my car, I need some good news lol.

Awesome, snagged a pair of the Maryam! Wesco advised 10.5E yesterday, so fingers crossed! Interesting to see Horween offered too, is there much of a difference? Didn't look like my size was available. Are either a teacore? Thanks boys!
-
@nrtphotos only difference between the two (other than the name of the tannery) is that the Maryams are veg tanned where the Horween is chrome tanned. The Maryam is a little more textured and stiffer - The Horween a little softer and smoother
-
@Ross I'm all set with my Mr. Lou's, so not asking for me, but I'm noticing that the heel stays in the pictures are different between the two versions. Chris told me he was switching all new production Mr. Lou's to look like the Horween photos that have it stitched down without a pull loop.
My intention is to clarify this so it doesnt surprise anyone in either way.
-
@pechelman cheers for that, we'll get it updated to be clear
-
@Ross No restock in size 7.5 E? Or are they already sold out? I‘ve been looking forward to this day for almost a year, please tell me that I didn‘t miss the restock in my size…
-
@Ross hello sir, for the humble horsehide novice, what would be the considerations to take into account when trying to make a choice between the two types on offer here? Not sure I’ll be able to make this drop, but good to know for future reference.
-
@AtariHunter no 7s or 7.5s on this restock I'm afraid
@long_john86 there's not too much physical difference between them. The real difference is in the tanning process with Maryam using veg tanning and horween using Chrome tanning.
The veg tan feels a little rougher and tougher to the hand where the horween is a little smoother and softer.
For me I'd say there is no X is better than Y with these, it's just going to come down to your preference but there are no 'wrong choices' here
-
I own the Mr Lou in Maryam and the 100 anniversary in Horween, as Ross said the Maryam vegetable tanned leather is initially shinier and smoother and harder to the touch, its Teacore is much tougher and less noticeable in the early stages. Horween leather is immediately very soft and "greasy" to the touch, after a short while. the first tea leaves can be glimpsed in the points of greatest wear. They are very different but equally beautiful, I honestly couldn't choose, sometimes I prefer one more than the other and vice versa.
