Holiday Traditions

@endo those things are the best — they take me right back to childhood.

Tradition ever since my wife and I have been together: Christmas Eve at the in-laws, „Saure Zipfel“ (bratwurst in vinegar and onions) for dinner after I’ve either despaired during mass or fallen asleep, then presents.
Christmas Day goose for lunch still at the in-laws, jump in the car, drive 200km to my parents, watch the Christmas speech on the Beeb, then presents England-style before we sit down for a turkey dinner. The final coup de grace to put everyone in a food coma: Christmas pudding with rum sauce. -
@Tago-Mago sounds like a holiday tour de force!!! Merry Christmas!!!

This year we're doing Christmas Day with just my wife and 2 kids at home. Then driving from Nashville to Atlanta Christmas evening to meet up with the in-laws, grandparents, and baby nephew and spend Christmas with them the morning of the 26th. Then we'll be in ATL for a week or so with some other family (lots of cousins, aunts, uncles, nephews, and nieces) coming to visit from Florida. I'm hoping to break away at some point to check out Guilty Party and pick up something nice for myself.
It's gonna be a wild ride!

Ours is Christmas Eve at my wife’s sisters place with their dad and stepmum ( my wife’s family has a really weird family setup)
Christmas Day at my brothers with his in-laws and then Boxing Day at home alone with the 3 of us which suits me down to the ground
LEGO building with the ever growing boy I imagine -
The missus and I drive south every year to see family. A night or two before we go, we put on Xmas tunes, turn on fire place, make holiday cocktails, and wrap all the gifts. I find the wrapping to be a challenge and hers usually look better, but this is consistently my fav night of the holidays. Family time afterward is hit or miss

@68degreesorless boy do I understand that last line

Man, I honestly don’t know how y’all that do the elf on the shelf do it! My oldest is 7 and he has said he has friends that do it, and I’ve already explained to him that it’s just parents having fun with him. I have felt like such a grinch, though!
-
Should also say, Santa still visits us at our house for our kids! I just don’t have the bandwidth or time (or creativity) for the elf on the shelf shit!
-
@Matt well shucks!
I'll be at my brother's with his little ones. I got the nephew a marble run for Xmas and I'm looking forward to setting that up with him.

@chrisjohnnick ha! I need to admit that I’m not the one doing the relocating every night. And every morning it’s as much a surprise to me as it is to the kids when we find him. I mean my kids are 12 and 10 so I’m 100% positive they know it’s us, but he’s part of the family now
