@Giles I’m envious. I think we’re of a similar vintage but I didn’t get to see him until 78 at Bingley Hall in Stafford.
Every time I saw him there were people dressed differently according to their favourite album/era. -
I sadly never got to see Bowie. If I could pick an era it'd probably be 77-80ish. Scary Monsters would've been an epic tour but as far as I know, he opted out from touring it after John Lennon was killed.

@Giles great venue, and I was down there just a few weeks ago to see a comedian.
We probably attended some of the same gigs at the New St Odeon! -

One of my most memorable shows was Bad Religion in front of probably 100 people, a special show for a german radio station.
I have the recording of it somewhere, you can hear me requesting a song they couldn't play. Good fun... -
