@Mizmazzle hey alright…hope it went well!
-
Well, I’d say it went really well!! They had a panel of students interview me today. I thought that was quite cool.
The challenge, is that I feel like they will probably offer me the job. I’m not 100% it’s the spot for me. I’ve been hoping on one particular school to call me about a 6th grade science position at a great school really close to my house.
I’m playing out so many scenarios in my head and I’m really not sure what I’m going to do at this point.
-
@Mizmazzle do you know how many candidates are in the running for the first position? Might give you enough time to get some clarity about the second one? Anyway, sounds promising.
-
@Mizmazzle no way of knowing how you compare to the others but I bet you’re the best dressed!

@goosehd thats the truth

@Mizmazzle congratulations on being offered the job, and even bigger congratulations on deciding to turn it down. Life’s too short to work at something that isn’t right for you. You’ll know when the right opportunity comes along.
-
Those affirmations mean a lot to me. I was really struggling letting this opportunity go by. Wasn’t really sure where to place the source of my anxiety. I’ve been at the same school now for ten years. I have deep roots there. Leaving is going to be really hard. And while I’m ready for a change, this new position gave me very little excitement and overwhelming anxiety. Thanks to advice from my wife and my current principal that is right in line with what y’all are saying, I let the offer go…I Woke up this morning feeling completely confident I did what was best for my own happiness. Life is too short. I’m looking for something that adds to my happiness…that new place just wasn’t it.

@Mizmazzle Congratulations on so many levels!! There's a lot of maturity and wisdom in all of the decisions you've made and I am positive everything will work out in your favour for future opportunities.

Thanks Dennis. I felt like I was breaking up with a girlfriend when I returned that phone call to the Assistant Principal.
She was super enthusiastic: “Hey!! So, we’d love you to the join the team!!”
Me, feigned enthusiasm: “Oh wow! That’s…insane! Haha. Um, I just don’t think this is going to work out.”
Dead air….. -
@Mizmazzle isn’t that great. A classy message from the guy, and you clearly made a brilliant impression on the school. You never know what life holds, and it maybe that sometime in the future there is an opportunity to work there which will be of more interest to you.
In the meantime, that affirmation should give you lots of confidence for any other positions you put yourself forward for. -
@IrishHeart Talk about making a guy feel valued!! I'm going to take the time to talk to him. I feel like I can be direct and 100% open now. During the interview you have to project an all "On Board" persona, even if you are having some doubts, otherwise the offer may not come.
I feel really good about being able to talk to the guy on clear and straightforward terms now. Who knows, he may have some valid information that helps me to move forward.
Besides, he's a fellow fly fisherman...that says a lot in my book. -
Congrats on the offer! It feels great to be wanted and even if this isn't the right role you at least have gained a little more interviewing experience and the insight into what you're looking for to help you find the right fit for everyone.
The only thing I might have done differently is to have asked for the weekend to think over your decision rather than immediately turning it down even if you know it's not the right fit.
-
@pechelman Yeah...I def thought about asking that. I guess I ended up not doing so because it was causing me so much strife, I didn't want to prolong what I knew was the inevitable. His reaching out to me to give me that option anyway really has been nice. Going to take a hike tomorrow and get my thoughts in order and come with a focused list of concerns I have and see what he says...
Could be a good time to push for a two day work week, full pay!!

A week ago today, I had a total (Japanese Ceramic apparently) replacement of my lefty (sic) hip.
Well, a week down the road and, I am already significantly better than I was before the op. I am not in any pain (I forgot to take the drugs yesterday, and I was fine.
My range of movement is better than prior to the op, and I can positively jog up and downstairs.
Frankly, it is amazing and I am in awe of the medical team who fixed me.
I'm at the heaviest I have ever been (about 12lb above where I feel good about myself), probably because I could not do much before the op, and Paula has been rewarding me with loads of chocolate biscuits since
Physio starts in a week, so I am keen to get 100% fit again and lose those excess pounds.
For sale, one set of crutches, as new

@Giles congrats on a successful op! Glad it's already an improvement. Enjoy that increased mobility!
