The (Less intimidating) Watch Thread

@long_john86 wow, what a beauty! Is it keeping time okay last days?
-
@FlavourFade we are a few days in, no supplementary manual winds, and about +30seconds, so I’m taking that as a win!
-
Found a G Shock shop in London and couldnt help but nab a souvenir
-
@endo I believe this was the District but we used the Tube a lot this week.
-
Here is my contribution. My daily wearer outside of work. Seiko Sarb033 on an Uncle Seiko beads of rice bracelet.
-
@Danimal506 love the SARB series.
-
@Mizmazzle It’s a solid watch! It doesn’t keep good time anymore, but it ran really well for a few years.
-
@T4920 Awesome! It looks great with those fades
-
@T4920 love a turtle. I wish they made a mini turtle that was exactly the same just smaller tho. I’d get one but they’re just a hair too big for me, even with fairly thick wrists
-
I brushed my Ray 2. Not perfect but it work for me because it was scratched up anyway and this makes it look more “worky”, which I like and works well with the more glossy lumed sapphire bezel insert. Really digging the mods. Looks aight with the SBG too

@WhiskeySandwich I wasn't familiar with the style before receiving the gift... It was a bold call buying someone as particular as myself a watch without prior consultation, but I'm happy to say he nailed it.
It didn't strike me as particularly large to begin with, but just compared it to a Tissot watch I've had stored away meaning to get serviced, and it really is quite a unit!

Does anyone know Marathon watches? https://www.marathonwatch.com/collections/navigator-1
True milspec and made in Canada... I'm in love!
-
@jevans41 I don’t have hands on experience. But I’ve heard from lots of places about how good they are. True mil spec and the people who run the company seem to be cool. The Grey NATO podcast always shouts out Marathon.
-
@Danimal506 Good shout on the pod thanks, I'll check it out.
I forgot to mention they have Swiss movements too (auto & quartz)...

As I mentioned before, the guys on my favorite watch related podcast both love Marathon. Their recent episode is an interview with the President of the company. I figured I’d share it here:
“This week, with the Toronto Timepiece Show just days away, we thought it would be fun to finally have a chat with Mitchell Wein, President of Marathon Watch Company. Marathon is a Canadian-owned watch and accessory business that is known all over the world for supplying everything from watches to clocks and other gear to a variety of governments and military outlets. Mitchell talks about the history of Marathon in Canada and Switzerland, what it’s like to make the jump from government contracts to end-user commercial sales, and even the brand’s recent collaboration with Jeep – and something of a tease for an announcement that will be made for the Toronto Timepiece Show.”
