IH-666S-21 - 21oz Selvedge Denim Slim Straight Cut Jeans - Indigo

Trying to decide between a tag 32 and 33. I had a 32 previously, but was just a wee bit tight in the top block. The tag 33 fits better and more true to size with no stretch needed, but not sure if i I should have given the 32 more time.

@bluemantra 33 all day. I think you’ll be happier in the long run and they look great
-
@bluemantra
if you ask me the 32 looked 100% perfect
from my experience the 21oz stretch so much by time that it’s better to have a tight start . they will stretch and mould with wear. How long have you worn it ?
the 33 looks good too of course, but more like a 634 .
in the end you have to decide -
@bluemantra Both work well/look good to my eyes, just depends what you're going for.
Typically I size more like your 32s (especially with 21oz/SBG), but it's just personal choice between two excellent options imo. I have some pairs that are a bit looser like your 33s (and more so), and generally I enjoy a bit of variety in cuts and sizes. Sometimes I'm down for a fight to break in a tight pair and other times I dig the loose and comfortable vibe.
-
@bluemantra you could also give the 33’s a hot wash and dry to get them to shrink just a hair I’ve done it many times with no ill effects. Then they’ll stretch where they need to. Personally i’ve had some regrets buying the 666 cut when they fit perfect to start, particularly if they’re snug at all in the thigh or top block. Might just be me getting older and desiring more comfort. Good luck
-
@bluemantra I'd prefer the more relaxed 33 especially in the thighs and knee area they look more comfortable.
-
@bluemantra I think if you have full mobility in the 32 (especially in the thigh) go with that, but if movement is hindered at all go 33
-
@Daniel-San It is a tough call. I gave the tag 32s around 2 weeks. With the tag 33 I can see needing a belt to keep them up after break-in and with the 32s no belt needed. I prefer no belt needed, but get the points about having different fits.

Boy do these not feel like heavy weight denim at all, soft and breathable. Gonna be no problem come summer time.

Finally beginning to fade a bit

Things are moving fast! 4 months still dry.

@Davids_denim Fast indeed! Looking great.

Hello. I have around 25 wears on my first pair of IH, first pair of Selvedge denim ever! I went w the 666s-21 that I picked up from Rivet & Hide while on holiday in London. While I do love them I'm finding the crotch area to be constricting especially when I squat down to pick something up or get into and out of my car etc. while it's not a deal breaker I will admit it deters me from wearing them as often as I'd like.
So..do I just need to suck it up and continue to beat them into submission or is this just life for my future w these jeans.
I'm considering a lighter weight for the summer months as my second pair..should I consider a different cut? Like the 888?
I appreciate some feedback on the fit based on pictures and the communities knowledge.
Lastly, I have not washed these yet.
Thanks!! -
@j3butch1 This is a tough one for me as I think the fit looks good, but am torn about you saying they are constricting. The 21oz are some of the easiest pairs of denim to break in and are pretty soft when new. They will get softer with wear, but if you're not comfortable in them, you won't wear them.
You could try a different cut, just keep wearing them as they soften to see if they become more comfortable for you, or try both a different cut/denim.
If you are having difficulty with the 21oz, you definitely need to stay away from some of the other denim weights such as 25oz., 19oz. lefties, etc.
The 16oz slubby denim is in my opinion the easiest pair of Iron Heart denim to break in and wear.
Hoping some of the other guys will chime in with their thoughts.

@tody small pocket knife on the right & money clip on the left. I don't believe that's the issue but I really appreciate you taking a look!
-
Was going to suggest/ask the same thing as tody above. Other than a pocket knife removing everything from pockets can be a big help.
Also I've had some limited success with going a size up in 666 to fit a bit like something half way to a 634 with a higher rise. At 25 days you'll have probably stretched these to where they'll settle. Know that they can tighten back up depending on how you wash and dry in case it's really snug now.

@j3butch1 I know what you mean regarding the 666. In my experience sizing up in the 666 is one way around it, or going with a different cut. Personally I typically prefer the 777 or 555, neither of which feel constricting in my experience. (Keep in mind body shapes vary wildly. Looking at the pictures I'd say we're not that far off though).
You could go for the 888, but personally I find that cut to be a little too generous in the thigh/crotch/rear area. (I sold a pair of 888-XHS for that reason). 777 or 555 seem to be just right for me, or the 634 if you want a straighter/less tapered fit.
As always, hard to make recommendations when we all vary in both body shape and how we like our jeans to fit/feel.
