IHM-01 - Deck Jacket
-
You really gotta see this thing (I know it's difficult), to realise how everything works together so well.
No point in reinventing the wheel, it's IH take on a classic not an exact repro and always designed for riding a motorcycle. -
Agreed on all the above. I've handled quite a few N-1 repro's, ad the IH is definitely the most wearable as an everyday jacket that I have seen. It's light, really comfortable, and a perfect cut (all the new season is cut so well). I have a BRxWG N-1, and compared to the IH version it is virtually unwearable…..I need this jacket.
Beats, I'm missing everyone too.....gotta go back to work tomorrow......real life sucks.
-
but you already have that exact jacket - so no sense in getting another one anyways …
by that logic i should only need one pair of jeans.
anyway a few people seem to have missed the point of what i said. i never said i didn't like the jacket, i just said i don't like the fleece lining and collar trim. and what i was trying to show with the pictures was what i think is a better lining and trim, i did not say that i would like an exact copy of the jacket in the pictures, but that i would have preferred the existing iron heart exterior with an interior along the lines of the jacket in the pics ( maybe with brown shearling lining?). because whilst i prefer the interior of my jacket, the jacket as a whole does not have the same build quality as an iron heart one. -
baracuta, look at The Real McCoys jackets. not re-invented as well.
but they use sheepskin collar, alpaca lining… and the quality is absolutly insane.i used to have a buzz rickson n1 which i think had alpaca lining but i sold it because the lining was too itchy when i just wore a tee shirt underneath
-
you're entitled to your opinion….even though it's wrong....
i carried out a very scientific survey at work this afternoon and showed pictures of both jacket interiors to 8 unbiased people without giving them any info on brand etc. and asked which they preferred. everyone said they preferrred the one with the mouton collar.

My thoughts on the jacket:
It's a lot lighter than it looks due to the synthetic fleece lining. Although natural product purists may disapprove, the fleece provides a good warmth to weight ratio and does not itch. I wish the fleece was black instead of brown.
The jacket is warm but not extremely so. I wouldn't wear it to explore the Arctic in winter but think it would be suitable for temperatures between -3 and 7 degrees without extra layers underneath.
I like the neck protection because my neck is always the first think to get cold and I find often find myself raising my shoulders to keep it warm.
There is one inside pocket with a horizontal opening. I would have liked the opening to be vertical or there to be a zipper. I like to carry my phone in my jacket pocket and am not sure how secure it would be.

the above is one of the reasons i love Dr. Pat. patiently awaiting your other write-ups. i saw you in a certain wabash
jealous of you uk folks. think i might have said that once or 20 Xs already
-
I'm with DrPat on this. I think the color of the fleece is the only thing rubbing me the wrong way.
