Jacques Marie Mage (JMM) - Sunglasses and Frames…

Our local JMM dealer is having a big trunk show next weekend. I’ll try to stop by for some pics. Doubt I’ll buy anything though, esp given their recent gouging.

@Heavy_blue
Awesome mate ! looks great !
enjoy them -
@Daniel-San thanks my man!

@popvulture dude I’m in the same boat! Got my first JMMs and love the frames. The lenses are a very see through orange tint that I’m not liking at all. To Roy Orbison for my liking. Guess I’ll have to make the swap myself.
-
@Mizmazzle I sent mine off to 1269 in Miami and they did a great job. IIRC was a little over 100 bucks back and forth with insured shipping — they took care of all that, just sent me a label. Highly recommended.
-
@popvulture $100 included the lenses? If so, what general details if you dont mind sharing? Were they rx, polarized, just plain tinted cr39, etc?
edit: and speaking of lenses, I got back the hickory taos'. Ended up with a Zeiss Pioneer (green) instead of the amber transition I thought about originally. As soon as it's sunny enough outside today I can try to take a similar comparison as above to the herbies with graphite green transitions.
-
Maybe swapping mine to prescription glasses as well will do some research at my optician
-
@popvulture thanks buddy. I reached out to my shop where I bought them. I got prescription lenses in mine. Shop is incredible. They said they’d change them to any tint I want for free. Grateful.

As I speak of JMM I have a had full handful of pair.
Yep you’re right some of the JMM lens are crap.
Picture taken do no justice until you try them on.
Luckily Seen has a few JMM lens as customers have taken sunglasses and put in prescription lens.
I had a chance to change a few over.
That get left behind.The orange colours are the worst and brown lens
-
fwiw, I think many of the tint colors they do are great and complement the frames well. Living in a place that isnt very sunny for 9mo out of the year, I do love their orange lenses and specifically sought out a frame with them. Helps with with contrast and blocks just enough light, but they are mostly useless on a blue bird sunny day in summer.
Still, the tint darkness of them is a pretty wide ranging complaint or point of contention with many owners (checkout styleforum's thread on jmm) since most folks are buying sunglasses for the sunnier places they live. Definitely, 3 of the 4 pair I own were not dark enough for a "real sunglass" tint imo. The only ones that are good enough are the agar dealan's with their "Sienna" lens which is sort of a dark reddish brown.
-
@Heavy_blue Love the look of those! I find some of the JMM frames a bit too loud but the one you’re wearing is just modest enough. The purple glasses are phenomenal.
-
@weftyarn thanks mate! Really appreciate
-
@pechelman looking back at the receipt, it came out to $110. They were pretty basic lenses though — I wouldn't call myself a glass connoisseur in the slightest. But yep, dark green CR39, no prescription, no polarization. Maybe I haven't tried enough polarized lenses, but I've never really been much of a fan. I know loads of peeps adore em.
-
@popvulture I use polarized lenses when I’m fishing. Haven’t found they make much difference otherwise. My smiths handle that job quite well.

@pechelman said in Jacques Marie Mage (JMM) - Sunglasses and Frames…:
Just sent away a pair of taos in hickory to be fitted with the Zeiss version of this lens and can follow up if anyone finds interest in this.
At the expense of committing a faux pas and quoting my own post, it seemed to be reasonable to do so for the ease of side-by-side comparison. Tried to duplicate these photos with the taos and zeiss pioneer (green) photochromic lenses.
