Independent venues in the US are a dying breed. This unspeakable conglomerate has been buying them up like crazy, which is why my proposed regulations included a wall of separation between the ticket brokers and the venues.
-
@tody if there’s one thing I learned in Berlin, it’s that Germany is behind the US in the enshittification process. I really enjoyed it there and we could learn some things.
-
@mclaincausey I've been using cashortrade.org for years. No tickets sold over face are allowed, and they've created an awesome community on there so the process is pretty seamless. Generally pretty jam or jam adjacent focused but you can find tons of other other acts on there too.

@TENDREL yep! Great service

Went to see Mike Watt and his Italian sidekicks Il Sogno Del Marinaio
Fantastic concert. I have a huge respect for everything MW did throughout his carreer
-

-

-
@jiminstitches I'm seeing them Birmingham on Thursday, first time! And KGLW the night before, woo!
-
@prpx Mike Watt is an absolute hero in the punk scene and one of the ones I admire most.
-
@Matt what he and the Minutemen did was enough to establish him as a legend and he’s been nonstop ever since. Just wish Boon hadn’t died so young.
-
@T4920 ah mate, yeah its my first time too! What a week you'll have! We'll catch up after
-
Yeah, also seen Watt with the Secondmen and that gig was one of the best ever. He is doing well, has some temporary issues - walks with a crutch, yet still performs with perfection and preciseness of a true legend. And for sure, ends every gig with a scream “Start your own band!!!!”
Wonderful guy -
@tody your last comment gave me a good chuckle and poses a good question - on a band's last tour is it better to suck or to nail it? I can see pros and cons to both arguments.
