Hibiki 100th Anniversary
-
@SourPower how was that beauty?
-
@mclaincausey how did the rest of your Berlin trip unfold? Any success picking up a mezcal?
-
@Tago-Mago worked 16 hour days from the hotel until finally getting some time Saturday. Walked all over town and had a great time but no time for mezcal. I absolutely adore Berlin and want to return one day, and probably stay at the Kempinski Adlon again—loved the hotel and best breakfast buffet I’ve ever had, for only €40 including unlimited champagne and caviar.
There’s a lot that Germany does better than the US. Y’all have it pretty good over there!
-
@mclaincausey haven’t tried it yet, just brought it home!
-
@SourPower back in the days when whisky was affordable Hibiki 12 (now Harmony lacking the age statement) was a favorite. Enjoy!
-
Still have a sealed bottle of Hibiki 12 for a rainy day… @mclaincausey
-
Such great stuff!
-
@Jett129 @mclaincausey do you use mezcal for mixing or do you sip it?
-
@Tago-Mago Almost exclusively sip. I'll try a cocktail with it in there but generally just enjoy it neat. Same with tequila.
-
@mclaincausey slightly chilled or at room temperature?
-
@goosehd Room temp. With higher proof ones if it comes out a bit hot I will revisit after 20-30 minutes, or even aerate with a frother.
I have had good cocktails with it, and it can work as a float too, but that's not usually what I do, and I don't mind saving on the calories either
-
@Tago-Mago I mostly sip mezcal out of small cups called copitas, and have orange slices with Sal de Gusano sprinkled on them,to bite into after drinking. I will occasionally float some on top of a margarita turning it into a Mezcalita.

This weekends tipple and very nice it is too.
Daftmill is a very small farm distillery near St Andrews in Fife.
Delicious stuff. Small quantity releases so pick one up if you get the chance
