Batman

The biggest current DC surprise has to be Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson playing either SHAZAM or Black Adam in an upcoming movie.
Would be surprised if it is a Captain Marvel film as Marvel Comics and DC have been in a long-standing trademark dispute over the name.
-
Shazam is the wizard who gave Billy Batson his powers in current continuity, Captain Marvel is the hero. I thought this one was nailed years ago before Alex Ross and Mark Waid did Kingdom Come?
-
For anyone interested, and who has been living in a cave, the Batman Vs Superman movie is not what it is being marketed as….i.e it isn't Batman Vs Superman.
DC are working hard, but not particularly secretly, to make a JLA movie to rival Marvels Avengers....but for some reason they don't want to just come out and say it. So far there are confirmed appearances for Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman and Aquaman and this morning it appears that The Flash has also been cast. So now we just await Green Lantern and Martian Manhunter and we're good to go.
JL vs Avengers. that would be quite a movie. AVENGERS WIN. HANDS DOWN.
-
Superman wins, hands down
-
hahaha. oh that age old debate…

Shazam (The Wizard) and Shazam (Captain Marvel) are two different characters that now share the same name.
They changed his name in 2011 when DC relaunched with 'The New 52'.

Have you seen the trailer for The Flash… DC will never be able to rival Marvel Studios.
-
The Flash tv show? It looked like it might have potential. I kinda like Arrow, though I know it's not an accurate version of Green Arrow. Since the Flash will have a lot of the same people involved, I'm cautiously optimistic.
I feel similarly about Gotham, despite the liberties it's taking with Batman lore. I think DC is actually doing a pretty good job on the tv side of things; better than Marvel, in fact. Agents of SHIELD is pretty awful, and Marvel threw everything they have at that project.
-
Agents of SHIELD is pretty bad, but I can't honestly understand how people thought it would be good…
Arrow is terrible and I can't imagine The Flash will be any better.
DC will struggle to bring the JLA together in a movie that will rival Avengers. The ground work just isn't there.
-
I gave up when "The New 52" was announced.
DC have by far the better major characters, but their creative team is headed by chimpanzees.

Batman and Superman are the most iconic super heroes yet created, who's the rival? Spiderman? Gimme a break…

They may be the most iconic, but Marvel have more iconic heroes than DC.
-
Quality not quantity
Marvel is what the kids read before graduating to real super heroes.
Batman Returns
Kingdom Come
Long Dark Halloween
Hush
Man Of Tomorrow
What You Get For The Man Who Has Everything?Just a few of the great DC titles I can think of without actually going to my shelves, off the top of my head the best I can think of from Marvel are…
Peter Davids run on Hulk
Planet Hulk
Age Of Apocalypse
Dark PhoenixI know where I'd hitch my wagon.
-
DC just doesn't do it for me, Jeph Loeb and Frank Miller excluded.
Missing a lot of good Marvel titles there Gav…
I have 3000 comics back home I'd gladly ship to you, to educate you.
-
I've been reading this shit since you were a twinkle in your daddy eye sonny, your 3000 would have sat nice in a corner of my former collection before marriage and kid arrived. Drop me a line when you need a history lesson
BTW: I'm now retired from the comic game, I'm down to a couple of hundred TPB's of choice.
-
My younger brother is doing his PHD on comic books…
If ever you want to speak to a Dr of comic books I'll be happy to send you his number
I only buy TPB's and digital download now, the cost of comics in AUS is unjustifiable.
-
A certificate is no substitute for experience, if the Phd ever needs a primary resource feel free to pass my number over, you can only learn so much from books
-
He has actually travelled the world studying comics and giving lectures…
Probably Wolverine... Wolverine is considered one of the most iconic comic book heroes of all time.
Stan Lee's biggest regret is that he didn't create the character.
I think we should agree to disagree and end this conversation on a high note...
WATCHMEN IS FECKIN' AWESOME!
