Been commuting (48miles, one way) on my Road King last 2 weeks. It’s everything I wanted. Storage, smooth ride, comfortable and sporty suspension, and I’m really happy with the aesthetics. Definitely more “Dyna Bagger” than Grandpa dresser. LOL.
The FXRT fairing and Baja Designs LED lights are on order and painting has been scheduled. Keeping the 100 Anniversary theme.
I’ll admit I could’ve probably bought a Dyna/FXR to achieve what we see here, but I really wanted the bagger geometry and road feel. When riding I feel so much more planted. No doubt, this bike is heavier than the alternative…
I’m not a windshield guy (for looks) but damn is it a slice of heaven rolling down the highway at 80 and not getting blasted by the air. I show up to work exhilarated, not fatigued. The fairing should tie everything together. Cruising comfort and looks.

A rear end before after.

@steelworker she’s on the hook. Im reeling slowly.
-
@louisbosco I saw your new ride on Instagram the other day, I thought that you were getting a Monster, not a Streetfighter. It looks great, but I hope that your license doesn't spontaneously combust as I'm not sure it'll go slow enough to stick to Singapore's speed limits.
@Autorotate the "not your grandpa's bagger" also looks good. I like it without the fairing.
-
@Graeme I think many years back around the time I caught up with you in melbs, I was really into the monster. but when the SF came out in 2019/2020, I absolutely fell in love with it. I'm not sure how I feel about the new monster without the trellis frame, it just doesn't look and feel right.
-
@louisbosco I seriously dislike the new monster too and by removing the trellis they ruined that motorcycle. It’s a shame that they ruined a beautiful motorcycle and turned it into just another bike. It doesn’t stand out anymore and removed it’s key defining feature.
-
@goosehd yeah the trellis was the most important visual to get changed. I'm not sure if it'll grow on me but I also feel that the monster has fallen down in pecking order on Ducati's list. almost seems like an after thought these days. no trellis or desmo in sight any more..
-
@louisbosco My top two bikes in the current Ducati lineup are:
- Streetfighter
- Panigale
I had considered the scrambler when I was looking to buy, but settled on the Thruxton because of better lines and specs. If I had know that the Monster was going to be changed into what it is now, I would have went with it.
I look at motorcycles and am always looking and deciding what I want to change, but with the Monster and even the Streetfighter there is nothing that I would do. Two motorcycles directly from a showroom floor that are perfect.
-
@goosehd I test rode the panigale to have a feel of the v4 engine as they didn't have a SF demo at the time. it's a brilliant bike but my back would not accept that position at all.
the thruxton is a brilliant bike. a mate of mine in Singapore has it and I believe @Graeme might still have his till this day?
I was leaning towards a different style in terms of a GS or tiger but I'll have to admit I probably won't ride it as much in a city state like Singapore..
-
@louisbosco man I can relate to this discussion. Having owned GS’s, GS Adventure’s, a KTM Super Duke 1290 (so good) I have always sought a do-it-all bike and found it in a Adv style bike.
Just when I thought I’d considered them all, I saw this bike the other day and it stopped me in my tracks. Compact, unique and a livery that just is so awesome to me. I think it’s a love it or hate it. I’m swooning.I don’t know ANYTHING about Moto Guzzi, but I know it’s following is very loyal, almost cultish. Definitely has me intrigued.
-
I've still got my Thruxton, but I've not ridden it in ages. I was meaning to pull it out of the shed and recommission it, but I'm heading back to the UK in a week, so I'll do that when I get back. I'll probably try to sell it in September as it's not being used.
I'm tempted by the Moto Guzzi V100. It's got a shaft drive, a reasonably upright position, optional luggage, and all the latest electronics. But that will probably wait until I figure out where I'm going to be living next.
-
@Autorotate I think I've found my calling in the street naked style. those Guzzi's are an interesting bunch. the modern ones seem to have garnered quite some interest for fans and non fans. they definitely have that Italian flair behind their designs for sure..
