@organisys
I'm purely an analogue person, so don't own a streamer (I don't understand the concept of not owning a physical copy… What will people listen to in 30 years when the tech and downloads are obsolete? I just sold 1200 cds for 4 figures - good luck investing in downloads people). All physical media degrade–many of those CDs you sold won't work in 30 years either.
Best bet is probably some kind of checksummed digital transcription (like FLAC) that's archived on a redundant system.

I have cds issued in 1987, and vinyl records issued in the early 1960s.ive also owned 78s issued in the mid 1920s. If cared for and stored properly they retain their integrity.
Go look at the artistic licence for digital media. You own neither the format nor the content, even if you have paid for and downloaded it.
The music and media companies have done an amazing job of convincing the public that they should pay the same for less. It is pretty much a given in the audiophile world that hi res digital is purely about convenience, not quality or longevity.

It is contributing to the upsurge in vinyl record sales, and now also CD and cassette sales.
Rip music you own in a physical format as well, go for it. Only buy the digital format, who knows when it might be removed.
The litmus test to this discussion will only be realised in 30 years, when I am still playing my records and cds without issue, and passing the increasingly valuable ones on to my son (who thankfully loves music too).
Ultimately, like most things, the important thing is to remain informed, then make a decision as to what is the right choice for you individually.

Finally completed my hifi system upgrade with a pair of Klipsch RP 4000 Fs. Solid copper wound ceramic woofers and a cone tweeter. They kicked the butt of £2000 speakers I auditioned and sound so great…

Nice addition, enjoy !

She's a beaut! I hear great things about that model.

I´m really into Techno the last view Weeks, more then usual, I listen to Techno for Around 15 Years but I like the current Vibe and the Artists. I´m from an HiFi Standpoint always facinated how dialed the Techno Tracks are when it comes to Mastering. The Majority of Chart Music there Days is digital but despite the face often lacks clear Bass and Highs even in HighRes Formats, especially in Hip Hop you get what kind of Bassline they where going for but missed to fully work out, in Techno on the other Hand the Basslines are Bone Shaking and when played on the Right Medium as Low as ist gets.

When I'm on the go I've got Bose NC700's, Bose Soundsports, or Bose Rondo frames. Big fan of the Bose headphones sound and technology. What I use just depends on what I'm doing or where I'm going.

@chrisjohnnick Very nice setup! Is the McIntosh worth it? I always drool when looking at them, but the price tag scares me…

My Marantz setup was my main for years, and I was very happy with it. I happened to find the MX113 and MC250 on craigslist for $20 about 15 years ago and jumped on it. Yes, $20. I don't think I've ever driven and ran quicker to pick up something. Took them straight to my tech and had them put about $150 of work into them to get them back up. The guy was cleaning out his dad's garage, and said they hadn't been used or plugged in for maybe 20+ years. It definitely sounds amazing, especially when cranked. Don't know if it's worth the price tag new, but definitely worth the used market price tag.

What a great find! Some of McIntosh setups can get very expensive. The nearest Audiophile shop near me has all of the gear listed as POR (price on request), and I’m the type that was taught if you have to ask then…
I did go into the shop once to audition some of the gear, but knew I was in over my head right away. Left and haven’t been back. I still dream though.

Yea, the Mc's are definitely forever pieces for me. I might upgrade the Thorens to something more high end down the road, but every time I consider it, I seem to find something else I'd rather spend the money on. Same thing with the speakers.

Early 1970‘s Pioneer SA-8100 and TX-8100. I had both stored away the last couple of years and finally dug them out after moving to our new home. Need to have them servised though.

@Giles I have a Sonos setup at home that I love. I have the Sonos 5, the sub, and 2 sonos Amp: Connect powering ceiling speakers throughout the house.
What is your review of the Roam? We take an old Jambox mini out on the boat and when we are swimming/floating around the boat the sound doesn't hold up. I was thinking of adding the Roam if it had enough power to give us a better sound in open air. I've considered the Move too, but it's a bit bulky to pack for the boat every time.
