Holiday Traditions

Little Christmas present for family and friends this year … is a homemade Limoncello out of homegrown lemons.
For the home boys we used a picture taken for the IH-Wabbi Word Tour a year ago. -
I feel like I have to share our Christmas tradition. When my sister graduated high school and was off to college, my dad decided he no longer needed to do his traditional Christmas morning breakfast for us. He thought it would be better for us to hit up…you guessed it Waffle House. He passed away in 2009, 9 years after started doing that. Here I am prepping for my 24th Christmas breakfast at the WaHo. My wife said it’s the best tradition she could have ever imagined marrying into. It’s my favorite holiday tradition, for sure.

We've done this three times now and will continue to do so, so I think it's officially a holiday tradition. There's a nice hotel in the area called The Lodge at Torrey Pines, and it's an absolutely gorgeous building which (and I'm not architecture expert, so please forgive me if I mess this up) seems like a combination of craftsman and Japanese design, and it's just stunning. We go there, see the carolers singing by a big fireplace, and tuck ourselves into a little room off of the bar for a martini and what they call the "Drug Store Burger." It's a pretty fancy place, so it's definitely a treat to go there. Anyway, here are some pics that my wife took last night.

Does sitting on a plane for 6 hours on a 2.5 hour flight count as holiday tradition? Hahah
The one time a year San Diego has poor weather >.>
@seawolf Never heard of this place. Looks awesome! I just flew into San Diego to visit family.

@dinobarnesberlin Like this one.

@Danimal506 Glad you were able to get in okay! Lots of flight delays because of the fog.
Check its out if you have time! It's quite a place. The restaurant is closed for renovations, but you can still eat and grab drinks in the bar.

Hattie was born on the 22nd, so we like to do a birthday weekend and Christmas celebration at the Broadmoor ahead of Christmas.

We do a Christmas party for family and friends every year. It’s a cookie contest party and everyone brings a cookie they baked. All the partygoers vote on the best cookie and we give the winner a tree ornament as a prize.
Party was Saturday and was a blast! Lots of whiskey drinking and cookie eating. So much fun that not a single photo was taken.
Merry Christmas Eve eve everyone!! -

@Mizmazzle I hate we were out of town for that this time. Next year!

@mclaincausey you were missed homie. Looks like you and the fam had a right festive time down there at the Broadmoor! I predict 2025 will be full of lots of hang time opportunities!
