@IrishHeart that’s awesome! I only got to see him that one time. Wish it had been more

Man I’ve got a box somewhere with a lot of ticket stubs in it — not all of ‘em by any means, but a good chunk. Need to see if I can find it. I’d love to have a list of all the shows I’ve been to.
-
@popvulture I have a bunch too and I found them not too long ago. One of the main inspirations for starting the journal. Here’s one of my favorites.
-
@SKT nice! I saw a lot of the old school greats when I was pretty little — Ray Charles might've been one of em, but frankly there were a lot where I was juts too young to appreciate and/or even remember. I do remember seeing and appreciating James Brown, Little Richard, and BB King back then. Still wish I had a time machine though... would like to have seen those guys through a better educated musical lens.
-
@popvulture wow those are some great ones. What I would give to see Little Richard in a small venue in his prime.
-
@Mizmazzle another brilliant first gig! I bet it was hard to keep the standard up from that.
-
@Nocturama now we’re talking!
-
@IrishHeart that show solidified my love of punk forever!!
Thanks for reviving this thread, Sean. Opening those tape cases took me on an awesome trip to my early show years. Pulled a few of some of my faves from back in the day.
-
@Mizmazzle damn those are some great show. Don’t you miss the physical ticket stubs!?
-
@Mizmazzle dang that's a good first show! I saw them in 96 iirc, Lollapalooza in New Orleans. My first show was Aerosmith on the Pump tour . Joan Jett opened, which was pretty f'n rad.
-
@popvulture hell yeah that’s a badass first concert! Two iconic bands for the ages!!
@SKT totally miss the hard tickets!! I’m just glad we had them to keep when we were kids! I find I go through those tape cases about once a year and it makes me really happy to think about those shows and the friends I was with.
