you are potentially making it more difficult to resell the boots later
Whilst that is true, I am a great believer in buying stuff that you like, not what someone else may like in the future.
I see a lot of people buying shit and paying more regard to resale, than how much they actually like the thing.
Fuck that, enjoy everything you do or buy to the max......
I think I am the only person I know who has not made money on property, which in the UK is like impossible over the last 40 years. But I have loved living everywhere I have lived/live.

@bluemantra yes the rough out pair is BT boss from IH Germany.
only a few weeks old so the shaft is straight but i'm confident it will stay like that. my buddy have the same BT non rough out and the shaft is still straight after about 18 months.the floppy shaft on the morrison is no issue at all, when you have your legs in and your jeans around it's fine

@Giles is spot on here. Buy what you like, not what’s likely to sell. And FWIW when I’ve sold custom ordered boots I’ve had no issue making the sale, quite the contrary.

I have a question here for anyone that has a pair of lace ups and slip ons... do you go for the same size or need to adjust between the two, assuming they're in the same last? I love the look of Wesco's engineer boot, however when I tried one in the same size as my lace ups they had tremendous heel slip. It felt way beyond something that would go away with break in. I still want to give them another try so I'm thinking of going down a half size and up in width.
-
Does anyone have some photos of some well worn horween natural CXL? Does it Patina into a dark brown?
-
@Erin758 I think it really depends personally to person. While we do measure foot size in nice neat increments the reality is that no two feet are the same.
If you've tried the same size in engineers as you take in lace-ups and got too much heel slip then I'd say your plan of trying a half size down and going up in width is a good idea
-
@Erin758 yes I wear 10 in Mr Lou and 10.5 in lace up chukka. The Lou’s require thinner socks later in the day or on airplane (once the feet swell) or the toes get a little smashed, but it was worth it to avoid too much heel slip. But this will vary from foot to foot and based on individual preferences.
-
Sounds good; Wesco offers combination lasts so I will go up in width for the toebox but leave the heel the same. A softer leather would also probably help with the break in and stretch...

@pechelman SCAPPOOSE!!!!!

@Inorganic Or "the poose" if you went to high school there

@bluemantra I've got a pair of Nick's I've had since 2015 but I wouldn't say they've been worn hard by any means.
Here they are brand new, a couple years ago after a conditioning, and today. Dunno if it's just this run of natural cxl but mine haven't aged a bunch compared to some other nat cxl boots I've seen.

@pechelman Thanks, they definitely look like they've taken on a light brown versus the grayish color when new.

Does anyone have red wing amber harness to compare to british tan from wesco?
-
A lot of times I feel somewhat torn on whether or not I should have gotten mp toe but then I remember how uncomfortable they felt on the first model I had, Horween black horsehide.

@hgering27 amazing collection! I’ll need to do one of these shots… those lugs done by unsung look badass!
-
@SourPower thanks! I absolutely love the lugs, wanted to distinguish them a little more from the ISP pair. I actually sent the shop vancouver pair in last week to get lugged as well, really excited to see how those turn out. I have always loved the burlap/lug look

In case anyone else is interested. Chris sent me some samples and here’s British tan compared to red wing amber harness. I ended up going with the Maryam natural horsehide. There’s some photos with natural Essex and natural CXL.
