Gradually making good friends with my tortoise + green lenses Dealan. I admit JMMs are different enough from any of my previous sunnies that it has taken me a bit to reach out for them in auto mode.
-
@motojobobo if I had a pair that looked like that I’d reach out for them in my sleep.

Two day shipping from Italy to California never ceases to amaze me! Really happy with these. They’re big…. but I have a big head.
My girlfriend was giving me shit for how much I spent, but when they arrived she only had good things to say which is always encouraging.
The only thing I can’t decide is if I keep the blue lenses or switch them for black or maybe even green.

looks like a good score @october-rust

Thanks fellas. Going to try them out with the blue tomorrow and see how they do in the sun

Probably have met my quota for sunglsses for the next few years
Grabbed the Abyss Molino in Mexico at Silverdeer, and fell in love with the Dealan 53 and found a pair in Agar online.
The blue lenses in the Torinos I previously posted are currently getting replaced with a G15 lens. Ultimately the blue just didn’t give me enough sun blockage to be practical for daily wear.

@october-rust sweet!

@october-rust re: the lens replacement, how'd you do it? Do you send them to JMM or does an optometrist do it? Curious how easy it is to get the same spec lens JMM uses, just in a diff shade. I've got a pair of Balzac in Titan and have also thought I might like to switch out the lighter blue lenses for maybe some more classic dark green.
-
I know it wasn’t addressed to me, but I think any optometrist should be able to spec replacement lenses for any frame within reason. @popvulture
-
Cool I figured! I don't wear glasses so I've never really dealt with an optometrist. Basically my main concern would be getting the same lenses JMM uses in there. Wouldn't wanna have forked out all that cash for a pair of shades, then something lesser gets popped in.
Not assuming that an optometrist would use something cheaper, more just wondering whether it'd be the same spec.

I recently went through a local optometrist (that doesn't carry JMM) for JMM shades rx lenses. If I had to do it over again, I would get my rx from local optometrist, then order from online retailer that carries JMM (I've had good luck with Twelve Sixty Nine and Black Optical but there are others) and have them update lenses to rx.
Local optometrist got it right eventually, but it took a lot of Q&A and a couple extra weeks due to miscommunication / not following instructions.

if anything, the stock jmm lenses really arent anything special other than perhaps the colors they use. They're mostly all unpolarized cr39.
Local shops / optometrists can do the custom lenses or there are a number of online places that can do the same thing for a lot less. I had a decent first experience with zoomerlenses but it sounds like he's a little overwhelmed and hasnt responded to a recent request. I had another person recommend replacement lens express that I'll likely try out soon to do a set of rx amber transitions in a set of hickory taos.
