@Mizmazzle Closest I’ve been to a show at Red Rocks is hearing Slipknot do a sound check. Sounded amazing. Pretty high on my musical bucket list.
-
Not sure how well known Echo and the Bunnymen are outside of the UK, but for a musical child of the 80’s, this pre-tour warm in front of around 400 people was fantastic. I also bumped into a couple of old friends which made the night.
Unlike many frontmen these days, Ian McCulloch spoke at length between every song - unfortunately he mumbled in a very strong Scouse (Liverpool) accent, so none of us Southern softies understood a word he said…or at least I didn’t!
For reference, one of the greatest songs of the 80’s:

@Mizmazzle ah fantastic that’s great to hear! When did you see them and can you remember what Maynard was wearing, always love his outfits!
-
@jiminstitches It was like two years ago. I remember he had on a very traditional punk rock type outfit with long plaid shorts, black boot and suspenders. Also he was rocking a mohawk. They absolutely destroyed the place.
EDIT: Just looked it up. I saw them 1/28/22 at the World Arena in Colorado Springs.
-
@Mizmazzle that's awesome about you and your wife, must be extra special going back there together now..
I'll take you up on the offer someday!
-
@Nocturama Great band. Saw them back in the day. Good to hear they can still put on a show.
-
@Mizmazzle and which band is this!?
-
@Mizmazzle said in Live Concerts:
@Jett129 that natural landscape and the spiritual energy of that place is pure magic.
100%,We do the little trading post hike every time we go and it's just magnificent.
-
@Mizmazzle that's so sweet!
I'll think of the tale of Miztr and Mizrs Mazzle next time I consider not going to a gig cause I'd be alone
I'd probably enjoy the band too based on the related artists on Spotify, jam is my jam.
Hoping for a 30+ minute Dripping Tap when I see KGLW, listen to that track almost daily!
Ice, Death etc... is my favourite record of theirs though, Magma goes so fucking hard, and the version from Red Rocks 22' is insane.
Don't you know if you know or not, but they upload 100s of hours of live recordings under the name 'bootleg gizz' on streaming sites.
Such a treasure trove, Chicago '23 is my favourite series of shows.
-
Really hard to pick a favorite record for me but when I saw them live the first time, I was entranced from the beginning, especially the opening MOTU sequence, and “Head On / Pill” is when they hooked me even deeper.
Nobody is more interesting or doing it better IMO.
-
Murlocs are also great and their latest “Calm Ya Farm” is southern rock kind of reminiscent of The Raconteurs. It’s outstanding.
-
So tempting...
