I asked, I got a Japanese yes. So probably not....
Perhaps they were just greeting you in English

Because we blew up the shuttle loom weaving the double indigo duck. We had to move production to a projectile loom. Despite the fact that we used exactly the same warp and weft and thus the fabric was therefore majorly similar to the fabric woven on the shuttle loom, it sold like crap because it was not selvedge.

This is only making me want it more
Seriously, exploding shuttle looms, projectile looms? I'm imagining a leather patch of a loom shuttle exploding.

I really would like to see this collarless zip sweater make a return, PLEASE.

@Brandrea that new liner coat may be of interest coming SS23? Stylistically speaking

This was the patch we made for the 37 pairs we could make out of the fabric before we broke the loom....

The brown duck is woven on a projectile loom.....
Ah! Forgive me if I'm being dense here...so both indigo and brown duck have the same production issues but indigo duck just doesn't sell as well?

@T4920 Great idea. Pretty great answer too, Chat GPT. Should we set them up with an account?
Regarding Chat GPT's response, I think IH is doing a pretty good job on belts and wallets today. And I'm personally good on messenger bags and tool rolls. But the rest sounds pretty friggin' awesome. Especially the duffels and backpacks. And given all the modern tech wear IH produces and the overall brand ethos, I can't help but feel like a few motorcycle-specific pieces that incorporate modern safety features (high viz, armor, abrasion-resistant fabric, etc.) would make sense. IMHO, there is a gap in the market today for premium, stylish moto apparel that effortlessly transitions between the road, the office, and the pub. Belstaff may be trying, but they ain't IH.

If it has indigo in it and it is a pair of trousers but does not have selvedge in the description, then sales are massively negatively impacted because a vast number of consumers believe that if it is not selvedge it is shite.....
That makes sense. Thanks for explaining it, G!
At first, I was wondering "Well, that's just pants...why not make indigo duck shirts/jackets? I'm sure there'd be an interest." But after thinking about it some, I imagine that when you select a new fabric/weave, you need to make a lot of stuff with it (pants, shirts, jackets) for it to be economically efficient. So, if you can't make pants with it because they won't sell, it's not worth the cost to make anything with it.

I’d love a pair of Indigo Ducks.
