SOCKS

Did anybody else love MUJI recycled yarn socks? They were so fucking cheap, comfy, and overall good. Only gripe was that they were a little short, but I dealt with it.
Now it seems they're gone. If you too are mourning this loss, have you found an alternative?

PSA: Darntough-25% off via gobros.com. Eager to try these out.
-
@louisbosco I've found a pair of socks for you.
Available from Time and Tide.
-
@Graeme is there a waiting list for this?

@louisbosco there is a waiting list, but you can't get on it without spending $100K on watches you don't actually want!

Eta for engineer boot sock restock?
-
Really! That’s way bad news. They are the perfect thickness. They are the perfect height. They don’t lose shape. They are durable. I can’t find anything close.
Anyone want to make a suggestion for a thick, tall, durable sock?
-
Bought a few versions of taller Wigwam socks. In general I like the brand and find their product to be durable. They make good hiking socks. The above the calf socks are….. ok. Decent weight. Too stretchy. Seems are more noticeable than IH. Predict they will stretch out of shape relatively quickly. Also the size range has them a little big with the heel toward the achilles. Guess I’m probably looking for things to complain about. The IH socks just REALLY worked for me

In too mourn the loss of the IH Engineer sock. I have about five pairs of them and maybe be more of the standard length. I also feel they fit me well, are very hard wearing and do a great job of wicking moisture.
I find the engineer only really necessary when I’m wearing 10-11” boots, with very stiff leather or a lining. My 11” burlap’s are soft enough in the shaft to get away with the work boot version. I’ll be wearing the engineer socks economically from here on in.

Anyone likes WRIGHT SOCKS? Picked up some pairs of the Cool Mesh 2 at my local running shop, Perfect for running and for casual stuff. They make boot socks too, everything is blister free and made in USA.
-
@neph93 i’m assuming you know already but there has been an engineer boot sock re-up.

Just upped my sock game today. Bought 8 pairs of Darn Tough from REI. Got 4 pairs of 1/4 ankle length and 4 pairs of mid length. Throwing away all my Adidas or whatever socks that came in like a pack of 6 for $20.

I recently went to an only one kind of sock rule for fit consistency and predictable performance. I’ve been exclusively using Canadian military wool socks that I find new in bag at thrift stores. I usually get them for $3 a pair. I like not having to rummage through the sock drawer. As an added bonus, I not longer have to find matching pairs. They are all the same!

Here’s a quick pic of my Darn Tough collection. I’m a big fan of these socks! I put them to some good use over a few years and they hold up unbelievably well.
Plus, their “lifetime warranty” is pretty killer! I had a few socks that got holes in them over time from hard use in and out of work everyday. I sent them into Darn Tough and got a discount code for brand new socks no problem! Very cool.I don’t really baby them either. I just turn them inside out and throw them in the washer and dryer. It’s pretty odd how good they still feel after a lot of abuse. Essentially “like new”.
