Our Cars (dream or actual)

I had a manual in high school thru college and my 20s in NY — bought a Passat with an automatic when I moved to Austin and always lamented that decision (in more ways than one). When it was time to get another car, I bought a Crosstrek with a standard. I was pretty stoked about returning to one at first, but I've gotta say it was surprisingly shitty in the long run, but I think that has more to do with the car. A Crosstrek isn't exactly a zippy car, or at least not from a stop. First gear suuuuucked on that thing and the clutch was even more annoying. A WRX, on the other hand, would undoubtedly be much more fun with that config.
Anyway, traded it for an Outback with an automatic and have loved it. Moral of the story: the older the berry, the blander the juice.

@choco that is helllla clean!
-
@Inorganic thanks! I traded my GR86 in for it. Much more convenient for taking my 4 year old around, but I really miss it!
-
@choco I'll be honest I had to ask the oracle (google) what a GR86 is...I've seen them around but haven't driven one. They look sporty and fast - words I seldom use when describing toyotas (i own a 96 land cruiser! fun for sure, reliable to a fault, but slow and capable as hell)

Subaru needs a new ac compressor so instead im starting to look for a smaller than an F-250 pickup in anticipation of the 2nd attempt at full time traveling. Not sure which trailer we’ll be going with but definitely smaller then a 30’ Airstream. Any suggestions? Thinking Ranger, Tacoma, Colorado size.

@Inorganic not very fast, but the best driving car I have ever had. It really is the last affordable sports car

@Matt I pull a 21ft travel trailer with a 2019 Tacoma TRD OR. The towing capacity is 6800 lbs. Pulls it fully loaded just fine…BUT the transmission will drive you nuts. It bounces between gears like nothing I have ever driven.

@Matt to me Tacoma has a rough ride
