I had to give it two tries but what a great show. The yelling and tension was grating in the first few episodes but it kind of opens up emotionally as it goes along. Really good stuff.
-
@mclaincausey haha. This is exactly how I felt last night when I tried watching it for the first time based on reviews in this thread. The high tension and rapid pace of the plot line development was not doing it for me. I love a series that allows the plot to slowly unfold. That combined with the stupid commercials on Hulu were grating on my nerves. Haha. Morgan says I’m too critical. I can agree with her. I am a very critical viewer.
Guess I have to give it another shot based on McLain’s experience.
Edit: Morgan just informed me she continued watching it without me today. Guess now I’ve got some catching up to do.

Yeah my wife didn’t resume with me. There’s an episode where Richie stages for an elite restaurant modeled after Alinea and it hit home for me on that one.

Try watching it with captions. That will give you a headache. After watching both seasons we went back and rewatched season one and it definitely felt slower the second time around. They never anticipated the popularity of the show and they thought maybe it will appeal to restaurant workers. They wanted it to be as authentic as possible. From what I heard I think they accomplished that.

I'm somewhat convinced those first few episodes are designed to condition the watcher to be able to enjoy that thanksgiving episode...
If you’re talking about The Fishes episode, that’s a traditional Christmas Eve dinner.
-
@pechelman nailed it. And those events and associated trauma are important to the show
-
Oh plenty of emotional vampires
-
Haha I think diving right into the Fishes episode would be like smoking PCP for your first drug experience. Definitely ease in with some preliminary episodes.

Man. The new Sonos app is a case study in how not to release a product “upgrade.” Just shocking functional regression and the performance is really bad: laggy and frustrating to deal with and lacking the utmost bare minimum queue management capabilities.
It’s really shocking that such a huge piece of shit made it through layers of design, design testing, QA, user acceptance testing, and approvals for release. Just so many failures had to occur. It smells like someone in corporate leadership forcing a deadline.

@mclaincausey - amen, brother!

The Bear was so good. I found myself rooting for Ritchie by the end of season 2 and not caring about anyone else. Looking forward to season 3.
-
@chrisjohnnick Couldn’t agree more, both my wife and I felt that way. As far as two amazing back to back episodes go…Fishes and then Forks. Those are our 2 favorites.

Why the bullshit always come a couple days before a big trip!!?
AC been making a grinding noise when it shuts down. Been doing it for years actually. Had another company out last summer and he said it was near the end of its life. New company came out today. Said the system needs replacing. Quoted $15,000 mutherfukkng dollars!!! For a compressor and new coil!!
